Beading Daily!

Wow, wow, wow!! I am completely over the moon right now. I am busting with so many emotions. I have no idea where to begin!!

The day started on a somber note with my Grandpa's funeral. It was a really nice service, over seen by the Bishop of Rochester (a huge honor for the family), and sun warming all our faces graveside as he was laid to rest. The reception that followed was full of literally 100s of people. All loved and respected Grandpa and it was a memorable event, to say the least. I want to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, comments, emails, cards, texts, and phone calls. I appreciate you all soo soo much. Thank you.

When I got home, my emotions swung the total opposite direction with lots of exciting news in my email inbox. First, CHECK IT OUT, I was interviewed by the lovely Jean Campbell for Beading Daily. Yeah, seriously... an interview of *me* was blasted out to over 100,000 people!! Holy COW!! How cool is that?!? Over the moon, I tell ya, over.the.moon. Jean asked great questions, and I loved that they shared so many photos from the book. Thanks Jean!

Now, those 100,000 people all (okay, maybe not all of them) ran off to Amazon.com and did an even more awesome thing... they zinged Totally Twisted to #1 in the Jewelry category, #1 in the Metal work Category, and #1 the Beadwork Category!! Double holy cows! See screen shot below!!



I am going to settle into what will hopefully be a less emotional evening, lol. This is way too much excitement for one day! I think there needs to be a cake made though... I need to get my hubby on that.

1... Weekend Buzz...

SURPRISE!! Yesterday afternoon I went to The Gallery Store at The Memorial Art Gallery to be interviewed!! The piece is to promote The Fine Craft Show this weekend. I did my hair, my make up, and sported my new favorite dress (unlike what I am wearing while watching the tv spot, LOL). I stopped by my sister's, who lives about 2 blocks away from the gallery, to make sure I looked the part. I brought a bunch of my latest designs and went from there.

I was so nervous. More nervous than when I demo-ed for PBS's Beads Baubles and Jewels. I can show how to make a piece of jewelry no problem, but try to articulate on the fly about my work had me sweating bullets. Of all the things they asked me and the things I answered, I am surprised that this is the sound bite they used, but that is okay. At least I didn't "um" during this part.

YNN 9 News is our local cable new channel so this little segment will run over and over and over again all day!! I am honored to have been asked to be the artist representing the show. I can't wait for the preview party tomorrow night!! But until then, I have loads of work to do today. Everything needs to be priced, polished, and packaged, the van needs cleaning and loading up of my display, and I need to wash all the table linens I use for the booth. I better get to work!!

8... An Interview

As if you couldn't get enough of me already, lol, pop over to the Art Bead Scene Blog today for an interview of yours truly. I was asked by the very talented Lynn Davis if I wouldn't mind answering a few questions and I said "I'd love to". It was great to slow down, grab a cup of coffee and reflect on why I do what I do/make what I make. I still can't get over the idea that I have been "interviewed" (and more then once recently). It is crazy! But awesome at the same time. I am honored that people want to hear what I have to say.

Sometimes I have to stop and laugh at myself and how lucky I am. I get moody and complain about this or that around my house and life. People don't do this or they don't do that. Someone needs to pick up their underwear up off the floor or I am going to throw it in the wood burner kind of tirades happen a lot. But, yesterday, I had a few hours of quiet and I got to have a photo shoot with myself wearing fun, brightly colored jewelry. How cool is that?!? Really, how many people get to play dress up when they are 30, take pictures, and post blogs about it? I don't know anyone.



"Strength In Numbers" ~ I told ya it looked really cool on.


"Side Swept" ~ More on this piece tomorrow.


"New Snagged Style" ~ It is on the short / tight side and I like it like that. You can wear it with any neckline.


"Mystery Design" - More on this tomorrow too. And are you wondering what I am looking at out the window? SNOW!! Yes, it has started snowing in NY, YOO HOO!
