Dear March

ron boy's sweater 5

Good Morning March,

I must say, March, that your morning sun is such a treat. For too many days, the sun comes up in such a way that it is hardly noticeable until noon, if at all. Today, though, as I rolled over in bed in the early hours, there you were. The sky had a glow before my coffee was even ready. I think that may be my favorite thing about you. It's that special way you make me realize that the snow will soon melt, the grass will turn green, flower bulbs are eager just below the surface, and as they rise, so will the temps. Not that I mind the low temps, you know me and how much I love the winter months!

Truly, I hope you linger this year. February was such a whirlwind, and I know how much you like to mimic February, copying its calendar and all. But, I think you need to make a much more concerted effort to stop living in February's shadow. And just because you host a day of Irish revelry does not make you unique. I hear too many people say that "March is such a hard month, for everybody." Maybe together we can change their minds. Ya know, I think things would swing more in your favor if you keep rolling out mornings like today's rather than the surprise arctic blasts you tend to bring from time to time. Your agenda does say "1st Day Of Spring" a few weeks from now. Maybe you should try to keep that appointment. The masses up north here need their vitamin D or they get cranky. I am just trying to help you out here, dude.

Anyway, I wanted to greet you with a bit of thanks today before any of the sadness that you can bring sets in. In a couple of days, we'll be remembering the day that Grandpa passed away. Let's make a deal... if you promise not to take another loved one in the next 31 days, I promise to tout your virtues to anyone that complains about you.

Yours with hopefulness,
Kerry

Personally, I think March, not April, is the 'cruelest month' because of the wide temp and weather shifts. BUT, spring is on the way! I love that self-portrait, btw. Beautiful!

I was going to say the same thing---It's a beautiful picture of you! I'm glad to be done with February, so I can welcome March with open arms, as long as it doesn't try anything on me!

That husband is a keeper!
*sigh*
I just love it when you greet the month this way. It makes me have a whole new perspective. Thank you for that.
March is the month of madness and spring break and my son's birthday. He is ready to be a teen (he already has been testing out the part!) but mom is not ready for that!
Enjoy the day!
