Hot Off The Press

I had a pleasent surprise in the mail the other day . I was flipping through the latest issue of Stringing Magazine and discovered that the beads I sent to them last winter for their "Beads To Buy" spot were used in a bracelet in the current issue.

The thing I like about Stringing is all different designs they share doing such a basic thing like stringing. Very Cool. There are loads of necklaces to inspire your own designs... with earrings and bracelets too.

Coolness! I'm waiting to get my copy -- I have earrings in there.

I should have said... it isn't my project. They just used my beads in a project. Sooo not what I would have made with them... but it is okay.

You made me curious. When you design your beads, do you have some kind of jewelry design in your head? Sometimes when I buy beads I immediately know what I'll do with them and sometimes I don't. I'm curious about your perspective as a beadmaker.

Most of the time I have a jewelry idea in mind when I make beads. So I am at the torch making beads to suit a certain design. When I make bead box beads though, it is the opposite. The bead design drives the idea. I make whatever I am feeling and let others pick the design.

In the case fo the magazine, their design is so different then my style of jewelry, you can hardly tell they're mine.
