Batten Down The Hatches

tuesday afternoon

It is a horribly blustery day with all kinds of wind and rain. This morning my friend Lindsey came for a visit and we sipped on homemade Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate and knit for what was too short a time. My frugal hubby had a coupon for Panera and we had buy-on-get-one-free salads in an absolutely bustling dining room for lunch. Yum. After running some errands, one of which was to get my hands on the latest issue of Artful Blogging, I came home to a whisper quiet house and toasty warm fire. My brain is being racked by the desire to debunk a difficult new wire link design that won't leave my imagination. Yet, my hands find they want to manipulate something other than wire... a wee bit of pen and paper. The other night, Andrew and I were looking for something and I came across my college sketch book. He was in awe, I was hyper-critical. I wonder why my drawing eye is so critical, nothing is ever good enough... yet, I still want to draw? It is whisper that I hear getting louder lately. Who knows where it will go... no matter the destination, I hope I can find ways to enjoy the journey. For now though, we best be battening down the hatches here...  we will be making some onion soup and settling in for a night full of howling winds.

i shared that same blustery and rainy day with you... we even had some trees down in our neighborhood... i find the wind to be soothing - and energizing at the same time... i miss it when it goes...
the sketch is wonderful... go with the flow and see what happens...

I think everyone is so critical of themselves. I like the sketch very much and hope something comes of it. I check your blog regularly to see what new wonderful things you are doing. You inspire people, keep up the great work.

Even way down here in TX we had the same blustery day, minus the rain but complete with wind advisories. I like the kitty. There is just enough line to capture the essence.

that is one awesome kitty picture! so sleepy and restful! winter hasn't found its way here yet, but it will all too soon and I shall be forced to wear socks and my big puffy coat. Thank you for having the courage to share your drawing with us. You have an incredible eye, Kerry, for photography and drawing. Keep it up as I would love to see where that takes you.

Enjoy the day!

I went to Panera today too! I had my favorite tomato soup and brought home some Asiago bread for the homemade chicken noodle soup I made for dinner - a new crockpot recipe actually. You made the salted caramel hot chocolate! I LOVE it! In fact, we went on a little celebratory visit to Starbucks this evening and that's what I had! YUM.
Your sketch is fantastic...let that drawing pad lead the way!

We had the same winds here yesterday 40 MPH gusts and a steady wind all day, the rain was the day before. It does signal the start of homemade breads, soups and stews season, warmth and comfort of all kinds! It seems lately your muse is a little restless, just flexing creative muscles maybe or the winds of change?
