My Tea Leaves

my tea 1
my tea 2
my tea 4
my tea 5
Monday, while sitting at the local minor league ball park for 4 straight hours, I finished knitting the adult size version of the sweater, Tea Leaves, that I knit for Lauren a few weeks back. *sigh* Alas, it turned out much too big. When I have it on, I feel like I am wearing a tent, or rather much like I just came home from the hospital after giving birth and am wearing maternity clothes without the belly. (Those that have kids will know just what I mean!) I love love love the yarn though and that will be the thing that saves this sweater from being ripped out or tossed in the bottom of my closet. In the dead of winter, it will be wonderful for layering. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

You know, I haven't been happy with much of what I knit for myself. I don't know if it is the garment itself, the fit/sizing, or just me *in* the finished piece that I am not liking. I wish I had a better understanding of what works well on my body type. I don't have the energy to research it though. So I will continue to brood and be horribly disappointed.

You know, in general, it is one of those horribly disappointing kinda days. I was working on the torch today and couldn't make the beads work for anything. And, there is some behind the scenes business frustrations going on, and and and... I thought the new Toffee Mocha at Starbucks yesterday was soooo good that it would keep my in a pleasant mood for a month, but frankly that euphoria only lasted a couple hours. Hmmm, maybe I should get another one? Kidding! What I really need to do is organize my mind. I need a clean sheet of paper and a to-do list. Yeah, that's the ticket.

I better get on it.

Must be going around as a bad slump of days as it seems to be catching. Glass was misbehaving for me last night and every other bead turned to crap. Two of our other BeadFest girls have also been gnashing their teeth this week. That I know of...

LOVE the tea leaves sweater!

I like it and think it looks cute on you - and yes - another stop at Starbucks will make you feel muuuuuch better :-)

The first thing that I thought when I saw that sweater is .... can you adopt me please? I would love a sweater like that in that exact shade of bordeaux. I think it is supposed to be a layering sweater anyway.

I can attest to those crappy-ass kind of days. I think I had one yesterday. I only have a precious3 hours to work in daylight and it felt like every direction I went it resulted in a dead end. I ended up pounding metal for two hours since I can't do that late at night. So now I have all this metal pounded but nothing to show for it. But I did finally make headway on my fall/winter necklace line. I have a direction, and now I need to start patinating the metal. Crossing my fingers...

Enjoy the day!
Erin

P.S. Wally on Dilbert says, "Sadness is just another word for 'not enough coffee'." I say go have another cuppa!

I love that sweater....wanna knit one for me? ;) I admire your ability to finish sweaters; I always get too bored to finish anything like that.

Go to Starbuck's! Quick! Before the kids get home! :)

Ok Kerry, want my honest opinion? I love the sweater design and color; however, maybe the fit is off because of the neckline? I've never had any luck wearing a boat neck - no matter what you do it doesn't lay right and wants to shift around even buttoned. Perhaps you could add to the top and 'fill' it in for a round line?
I'm always amazed at your knitting projects - you are sooooo fast. While I can crochet I never quite learned knitting ~ I'm envious.
Oh, go try a spice pumpkin frappucino - to simply die for!!

You are some kind of knitter! You must really knit fast and furious or just be plain great at it. All Ive ever done is crocheted. You took your knitting to the park can you knit without instructions? Ha thats how much I know. Maybe you were at the bottom? I think your sweater is wonderful, and for the layering will be perfect. Is it cooling off there now..I wish it would here...

thanks again ladies!

janet, this is a very easy pattern to memorize after the neckline, you just go back and forth until forever. i would do 5 rows at a time a couple times a day and that worked through it pretty quick.

Hi Kerry
Love the sweater and it looks beautifully knitted too. I was wondering if its the yoke/wide neck on it that is throwing you? I love that style but it looks so wrong on me because of the shape of the neck.

Toffee Mocha sounds good, think I'll have to give one a go next time in town!

love the color and the buttons. i'm trudging along with a scarf that I messed up but managed to make the mess up in to a stripe (got my kpkp rows mixed up, then straighened out to kpkp again.) I swear, I'm super jealous of your mad knitty skillz :)
