How To Have The BEST 8th Birthday EVER!

party runway 1

Step 1: Build a runway. Oh yes, the best "Sweet & Sassy" style parties MUST have a runway. Borrow curtains from a friend and ask Daddy to build a small platform. Cover it in fabric and the more twinkle lights the better. (You also might want to lock the cat in a room because they will attack the fabric and twinkle lights.)

Step 2: Invite your friends, but also invite your Gee and Aunt Bonnie and Aunt Bonnie's friend Jenny too. This is very important. These girls got glamore skills and they will doll the guests up. Gee does nails, Jenny does SPARKLE make-up, and Aunt Bonnie will style everyone's hair however they wish. (special note: girls with straight hair will want theirs curly, and girls with curly will want it straight.)

Step 3: Make fascinators for as your party craft and TUTUs are the awesome-est party favor. Okay, so the fascinators might not want to stay in your guests hair, but you can quickly turn them into corsages or add them to the waist band of your tutus.

Step 4: Turn the DANCE station on Pandora and R.O.C.K.I.T.O.U.T!! OH YEAH!! (group hugs are a must)

Step 7: Choreograph a sweet show for the parents when the return at pick up time. And your group routine should have a conga line, best friend catwalk pairings, and individual pose striking too.

Step 6: Take lots of photos and video! A video mash up of the party photos and videos makes for a really special thank you note.

This is the sweetest post ever! I especially liked the part about inviting the extra party guests-gee and aunty bonnie and aunt bonnie's friend... I bet they had just as much fun as the girls. Too cute, Kerry!

Adorable!
Brings back memories of the "home made" birthday parties that we had for my 3 girls. (My youngest is turing 18 next month......don't blink, it flies by way too fast.)

So nice of you to share this fun celebration!

What awesome memories you are making! And the sweetest things are home-made, like the catwalk and the flowers and the tutus. Such a delight to be 8!
Enjoy the day!

Kerry, the party looked AMAZING. I love all of the details. I just know Lauren and her friends had the best time ever, and they're probably talking about it right now at school! Love the paper flowers (and the picture of your Mom), the catwalk, and that great picture of Lauren strutting her stuff!

What a wonderful mother you are! Sometimes routine could make you wonder if you are doing a good job raising your children. But moments like the ones you just created for your daughter are what will define the beautiful childhood she had. Congratulations to both of you, 8 years ago you became 3 times mother and your daughter was welcomed by a loving family.

What a great party idea! I passed this on to my 2 daughters who are mothers of 2 much littler girls. I hope they file it away for the future. So cute and so fun (for the girls and the spectators!).
