Twisted Tuesday - Holiday Special!

MY BOOK!

Forgive me this shameless self promotion, I just gotta say, I think Totally Twisted: Innovative Wire Work + Art Glass Jewelry (by Yours Truly) should be on every beader's wish list this Christmas!! With the holidays officially upon us, and as an author experiencing my first Christmas with my first book, I can't help it, I am biased, I know. To celebrate the season and to help stuff lots of stockings with copies of Totally Twisted, I have marked signed copies down 20% on my website.

So whether you have been holding off getting a copy for yourself, or you want to gift a copy to your best beady girlfriend, now is the time to order!! Shipping rates are the same: US Residents $3.50, Canadian Residents $8, and Everywhere Else $12 ( sorry I can't make it cheaper, books are heavy!) And I am happy to sign the copy to whom ever, just note it in the comments when checking out.

Now, for those of you that already have a copy of the book, and have been eagerly waiting that new kit that I hinted at a few weeks ago, it is here!! You can now order kits for UNHINGED! (photo of kit beads below) This is truly one of my favorites. I love making these beads and I love making this bangle. You can read all about the origins of this design in this 2008 blog post. This would be a great starter project for a newbie wireworker too. If you are gifting a copy of the book, this would make a great companion gift (hint hint)!!

While you are checking out all the Kits & Supplies, Oh My! on my website, you'll see that the 4 kits I launched earlier this yeas have been marked down too!! I have taken 10% off of Bang Gals!, Delightful, Framed, and Timeless. All because I love you guys and I am so thankful for your support and for making 2010 such an exciting year for me. Thanks so much to each and every one of you. This sale will be going on until December 31, 2010. That way, if Santa doesn't get everything on your list, you can come back and treat yourself to something special :) But, I hate shameless self promotion, so I won't be mentioning this again until it is about to expire!!

Happy Shopping and Merry Christmas!!

A Little Detail From A Day Card Sets

cards 1
cards 2
cards 3
cards 4

I am so excited right now that my cheeks hurt from the grin I have that goes from ear to ear!! For a long... nah, LONG... time (insert timeline of about 3yrs or so), I have had this little whisper in my heart saying "put your photos on note cards." Fear usually challenges that whisper with remarks that go a little something like... "your photos aren't good enough, people that say they are are just being nice", or "no one will actually buy your pictures, don't be silly." Fear can be a powerful thing, but moving through it can be even more powerful!! I have finally been able to sock those bad thoughts right in the face and let that little whispering turn into a shout.

Last week, I picked a few of my favorite photos from the past few weeks, edited them just so, uploaded them in secret to be printed, and today those goodies arrived in my mailbox. I couldn't be more thrilled with how they turned out. I love each and every card and can't wait to start sending notes to anyone and everyone. Naturally, I ordered enough for you too!! There are two sets now available on my website. There are sets of four or sets of six images. (You can see the images that appear on the cards in this set on Flickr:: Postcards) They are printed on a lovely weight card stock with a beautiful matte finish. *sigh* OH how I want to pet their matte finish goodness.

There are just a few sets of each, so snatch them up!! I will NOT be reprinting these images again. You know me and my need to keep things unique. Christmas is right around the corner!! The sets would make super stocking stuffers or teacher gifts or Secret Santa prezzies or just a special little treat for yourself. I do hope you love them as much as I do!! Let me know if you have any questions.

(ps... as the first photo shows, you can now find me at http://www.kerrybogert.com/ too!! It is the same website you are used to seeing, but now you have more ways to find me.)

Click the link and go see what Cindy and I are up to over at her blog. And um... warning... she made me cry.

Shipping Changes

*Special Note*

I have had to make changes to my shipping policy for international customers. I have a bit of sticker shock when mailing out overseas copies of Totally Twisted! The book, when packaged, weights a little more then 1 pound and must be sent "Global First Class".

Here are the new rates when ordering a signed copy of Totally Twisted:
US Residents - $3.50 USPS Media Mail
Canadian Residents - $8.00 USPS Global First Class
Everywhere Else - $12.00 USPS Global First Class

Any charge beyond the flat rate I will pay. (Sometimes the rate overseas is $10, sometimes it is $14. I think $12 is a happy medium.)

Thank you so much for your understanding!! Those of you that already ordered your copies, no worries, there is no extra charge now. These new rates start today. Also, these rates only apply to orders for copies of Totally Twisted. When ordering beads or jewelry, as long as the total weight is less then 1 pound, the shipping rate will be $3.50.

Back To Business

I decided it was time to return back to reality a bit today. I can't sit and knit forever. There is some business round here that needs handling. I thought I would let you know that I posted three of my original mixed media art pieces available for sale on my website.

Here are the three that I have:

You Alone Are You
you are you

Gracious & Kind
gracious and kind 1

Ink Well
ink well 1

I am glad I posted that little survey last week. I appreciated the feedback. And I did have it on my list of goals this year to create a calendar, I just never got to it. I will move it up on my priority list for next year and, for the time being, I am going to pass on offering prints. So, these originals will be the only way to get my mixed media work for a while. If you like one, grab it. Oh, and so you know, there is no additional charge for shipping apart from the usual $3.50. I will cover the balance.

I am going to attempt to post some jewelry this afternoon, but I have a lot of running around to do first, plus the kidos have a half day. So, don't hold me to it, but I am going to try.

Just Because

All Of 'Em (group shot)

Would ya take a look at that... I made something. Something bead related. LOL. I don't have much time in the studio this week. What with the kids being home and having to constantly referee their bickering, I don't get much time to stow away and bead. BUT, thank the heavens for my MOM!! She signed the kids up for Splash Week at the YMCA. So I get an hour each day to get a little done. I spent yesterday's hour making these little doodads.

Aren't they sweet? Nothing wild and crazy... just sweet and simple, playful pops of color. Perfect for the coming months of funner necklines and ponytails (if your hair is so inclined). The great thing? They were all made from beads I had just wasting away on my desk. Alone... they would have sat there for a while then eventually gotten sent to the bad bead jar... or the jar I take to shows to let people play with beads. Together though... they work. One happened to roll near another one and I liked it. So grabbed another one and liked it too. I think my beads watch out for each other. They know when they should have a fate better than the bad bead jar and they roll around my desk seeking each other out. Till... they find their little beady matches made in heaven and get made into doodads.

I will send today's hour of solitude posting these little numbers on my website. I hope you'll scoop em up. They need loving homes. While you are waiting for them to be posted... click on over to my FLICKR gallery and you can see close ups of each one. OH, and I ordered up new chains (snake chains and bead chains)... in my opinion they are the best chains to show these off on. They won't be here until Friday, but let me know if ya want one! Otherwise, they should easily pop onto any chain ya got.

All Of 'Em (alternate view)

Anyone else have projects like these? Doodads you come up with by chance? I would love to see!!

The pendants are posted!! CHECK THEM OUT!

Quick Update

Just popping in to let y'all know I did some cleaning of the ol' website. I marked down the few necklaces that I have available. Check them out HERE.

I was rather taken back by just how many pieces are marked *SOLD* and how few are available. That is good for me, but boring for you. I'll be working on getting new pieces created and freshing up the selection on my website!! (and not only jewelry, I have new Mixed Media Pieces in the works too.)

IT'S HERE, IT'S HERE, IT'S HERE

AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

LOOK WHAT I FOUND AT BARNES & NOBLE TONIGHT!!!

My good friend Lindsey and I were out for her birthday celebration, as we are every year at this time. We decided to hit Barnes & Noble for a little magazine time. They didn't have the magazine Lindsey wanted so we wondered to the craft/altered art/jewelry/paper/sewing book section. We were sitting (on the floor) for about 3 minutes when all of a sudden I saw it!!

Lindsey took a video of my reaction. I was totally flipping out. But unfortunately she hit end instead of save on her cell phone. Oh well, I know it isn't something I will forget anytime soon. I completely lost it. I couldn't breath... I was smiling ear to ear... I was laughing... I was kicking my feet... I was shaking... I was crying... I AM SO EXCITED!!

It took about 10 solid minutes for me gain my composure. Though I was still shaking. I flipped through each page and stroked each photo. I can't wait for you to see which projects are inside. I couldn't show you before, but I think I can now. Anyway... it is totally awesome. They changed the back cover from what is on the Interweave website, but who cares... I AM IN A BOOK!! YOO HOOOOOO!!!

I called Ron from the store. And he was like "what book?" And he actually told me not to buy it and that I should wait for the free copy to come from the publisher. YEAH RIGHT! He is lucky I didn't buy all the copies that had!! Lindsey suggested I sign the copy that comes from the publisher and give it away here on the blog. BRILLIANT idea. I will have to think of a fun way to do the give away. I'll let you know what I come up with. Though honestly, I have been asked to sign things and I feel like an arrogant ass every time I do it. But Lindsey said no, I am not and she insists that you guys will want a signed copy. LOL.

AAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!! I still can't believe it is here!!

I have an absolutely splitting headache and I could throw up at the moment but even feeling sick can't get the grin off my face. I told Lindsey in the store that I think coming upon the book in the store like that was the best thing ever. Sure I would have liked to see it come in the mail weeks ago. But OMG... IT'S IN BARNES & NOBLE!! Right this very moment... on the shelf... how cool is that?!?! I got to see it for the very first time... in the store... where people are gonna buy it. I had to show the girl at the register... see... the name of the artist... same name on the credit card... THAT'S ME!!

Creative Jewelry 2008

Did you notice I added a new publication to the side panel on the right? Flip to page 13 and you'll find super easy instructions for my "Snagged" style necklaces!! 75 necklace projects, and yours truly is the first one in the necklace section. To keep the project short and sweet, the editors listed me as the source for the lampwork ring with sterling wire toggle. I will be working on those really soon and updating my Bead Box with them. BUT, I also decided that since these toggles are so super simple to make, that I would write the tutorial for it too and share it here on the blog. The tutorial is written... I just need to take the photos. So, keep checking back, and you should see it by the end of the week. :)

This isn't the only tutorial I have up my sleeve either! There will be two more publications out this fall with projects from me. But we'll keep those under wraps until they get here.

Meanwhile... I spent the early morning hours updating the Bevy Of Bracelets! There is a bunch of fresh goodies too be oogled at. LOL. And, should you see something you love but it isn't your size, just send me an email. Most of my bracelet designs lend themselves to easy sizing. I can add a link or take one out.

One thing you won't see are the new Bottle Cap Bracelets. I am planning to add the "Recycled Art Jewelry" section to my "Jewelry Shop" just for the bottle caps. I have about a half dozen new caps to post and just a couple of the bracelets left (everyone LOVED them at the show!). I am just not sure when I will get to posting them.

Don't forget!! Free shipping in July!! Use coupon code: JULY

In and Out

Goodness... I thought after the show that things would slow down so I could catch my breath. Shows you what I know. Things were nuts today (an appointment for Lauren that should have been an hour was three hours!) and it is just going to get crazier. We are making plans to make the move to the new house this coming weekend!! I finished painting Lauren's room (Jacob's room is up next) and Ron is re-skinning the shed.

So, bare with me while I am in and out this week.

I did get new necklaces posted this morning!! Go check them out!! Plus, I decided that it isn't fair that y'all that are out of state have to pay shipping when locals come to the show and get to just pick things up. So, FREE SHIPPING IN JULY!! You get to pretend that you are right there in my booth at a show. Just use the coupon code JULY when you check out.

Pendant Pandemonium

My stars y'all are fast!! You were helping yourselves to Big Honker Hollows before I was even done listing them. LOL, Not that I mind, just be sure that you speed racers go back and check out the other cool new things I posted. There is a beautiful new Glass Cameo, Talk The Wonk and Walk The Wonk too. Don't forget... you don't have to wear the hollows as pendants, you could use them in your own jewelry designs.

I really loved making these hollows and it is definitely something I am going to do more often. Lauren had one of those "little windows" yesterday where the Mortin was working. She came out to the studio with me and we made all those hollows together. She would tell me what color I should do next. It was great! Turns out the little gal has strep throat. Antibiotics has been picked up and a nap has been had. They'll be no baseball for us tonight. Maybe we'll make more beads :)

earlier today...

I had a really great hollow torch session yesterday and I have been able to string up some really cool new things this morning!! I will post them later this afternoon, so keep an eye out for them!!

I'll be back later with lots of photos and details. First though, Lauren is taking a trip to the pediatrician.

Take Two

Oh look, it is a double post day!!

I just finished putting the final touches on the newly reworked bottle cap earrings. I hope you'll go check them out! There are only 8 pairs of earrings, so grab a set before they are gone.

I did the math and each set takes about 3 hours to make. Any jewelry maker will tell you... 3 hours on ONE pair of earrings is a lot of time. So, I hope my efforts will prove to have been worth it.

I think they are cool anyway...
