AAAAAGGGGHHHHH!!! I DID IT!!! For the first time ever, I made a Murrini!!!
I have been trying to make these for years. I have only tried a handful of times, and every time, I fail miserably. At breakfast this morning, Andrew said "Mom, I have an idea for you for a bead. You should make a star." I don't know what got into me, but I figured I would try again.
Now this is a very very very basic murrini. I made a simple black star with turquoise edging. You can see the little burst it makes on this chunk of broken bead. The bead is all busted up because I wasn't happy with the colors. So I layed it down on my desk and let it crack. I am glad I did, cause now you get to see the murrini and not wait for the kiln to finish cooling.
I can't wait to get back out to the torch and make more!!

Kerry, I am making an appointment to see the eye doctor immediately! When I first pulled up your blog I thought, "What a cute little bird bead Kerry made. I love it".........yeah....then I actually read the blog. Wow. Must have been some holiday weekend I had huh? Too bad I missed it! Really though, great job! I am super happy that you accomplished something you have been working towards! Take care!

It's always interesting when you've given up on something and come back to it later - much later.
congratulations! murrini can be so frustrating - i have a complete love/hate affair going with them.
